If household items could talk, we’re sure they would have a lot to say about how we use (and misuse) them.
As someone who is vested in the way these items are treated and how they feel, I decided to speak to them and share what they had to say.
Remote Control
I’ve really suffered in this life. When there’s light, everybody fights to get a hold of me and when they get what they want, they just toss me in one dusty corner or worse, some of them sit on me. Do I look like a chair?
Nobody cares how I feel. People come from the restroom without washing their dirty hands and just pick me up. Yet when it’s time to clean, I watch them wipe the TV and they just throw me aside. Is that even fair?🥺
Toilet Brush
If I say I do one of the most thankless jobs in the world, that would be an understatement. You would think that would make people treat me better but human beings have no joy.
They use me and don’t bother to see if I’m dry before forcing me back into my holder. Sometimes, I just want to stay outside and breathe in fresh air. Everybody needs some sunshine in their lives🌞.
Kitchen Sponge
Everyone knows how messy the kitchen can get. From spoilt food to dirty plates, I absorb everything without complaint.
However, when I scrub something as sticky as overzealous okro, I expect a thorough wash to cleanse my skin of all the dirt, but what do people do? They sprinkle some water on me and leave me sticky and smelling like three days old soup. Where is the love?🤷🏾♂️
Mop
Every day, I literally get dragged through the ground and what do I get in return? Nothing! Some people think they’re doing me a favour by stepping on and wrangling my neck to get rid of water. I have a better idea, put me out in the sun dears.😒
Doorknob
If I get N1000 for every time I’m ignored during cleaning, I would be a very rich doorknob by now.
I’ve done everything I can to get noticed during cleaning, and yet, no one bothers. I have accepted my fate, people don’t rate me and only realise my worth when I’m gone. Till then, I’ll keep dragging your trouser pockets and belt holes😌.
